I'm getting my New Computer today

People around me know that I've been planning to buy a computer for a long time and till today was unsuccessful. Ya its pretty long time, I've been planning since last 5 years.

Hmm take a look at the computer configuration.

Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHZ
Intel 915 GL Motherboard
512 MB RAM @ 400 MHZ
160 GB HDD
DVD+CD-RW Combo (Will upgrade to DVD-RW soon)
128 MB Gigabyte PCI Express (Intel says PCI express is better than AGP)
TV Tuner card
17" Flatron monitor

How do you like it.

I'm looking back at those DivX movies I have on scratched CDs (hope they work fine)

@HW and Badrri Do you remember those movies and games I downloaded @ college (glorious days of Internet !! SSN vaazhga)

The next idea is to get a broadband connection at home. so expect lot of activity here.

Hi sarr,

While Intel may be the biggest damn chip company in the world, I prefer computers with AMD processors. For the same money you spend on a P4, you can get an AMD 64 bit processor. And AMD has much better math processors, graphics and flaoting point operations than Intel, and also its the bette choice for multitasking. If can, you can ask your vendor for some advice or go to www.amd.com

Badri I don't prefer a laptop. For the same price it doesn't give you half the performance. I don't have a need to be mobile with the computer now da.

GP true AMD has better performance. I've already ordered for this one. the next comp I'm buying would be a AMD.

Post a snap of the PC on ur blog sarr. I always see some crappy computer ads on Kumudham and Vikadan. I want to see how it looks like. I dont understand how India could be a software superpower and not big in hardware. If you come to Malaysia, I can get you the pc ure buying for about RM2500 (USD 650) Rupees 25000. But of course it'll be taxed to hell before u can bring it back there.

Oops the motherboard smoked the very first day. All I did is install winxp at the vendor's shop, he tested the sound with a bad speaker, the speaker connection injected some extra volts into the MB and there was smoke.

Yes da pk, I gotta upgrade. these are my immediate upgrade plans: 1 GB Ram and a DVD writer.

GP the computer is looking smashing. I'll sure post it here.

All said I'm still waiting for the computer, tomorrow.
