Movie I'm looking forward to

This would be the movie I'll be looking forward to, only disappointment, Its slated to release in 2007, It will be one of the biggest budget ever to be spent on an Indian movie, rough estimated 300 Crores. Yes it will be a trilogy, once in the theaters it will easily be one of the best movies in the world, nothing would compete with it, rumours are that the special effect creators for Lord of the Rings will be making the special effects for this movie too. It will cast Sharukh Khan, Amir Khan and Rani Mukherjee.

The movie is Mahabharata -> Official Website

Today I was watching B.R Chopra's Mahabharata being aired on Jaya TV. I didn't quiet like the series. Reason - It lacked the grandeur of the epic, It lacked the subtlety of the great characters. Somehow felt as though it was a puppet show. I thought if a story like Harry Potter could make wonders, How great would it be if Mahabharatha was retold as a movie like this? I was sure that this epic would be made into a movie in the future, never expected to stumble on an website within an hour !!

Countdown to 2007 starts now ...

What you are forgetting is that B R Chopra's Mahabharatha was made a good 10-15 years ago. At hat time, both Ramayana and Mahabaratha captivated audiences throught the country....did you forget that ???

Hey,
Come on. you can tell that the old Mahabaratha is a bit outdated but calling it a "puppet show" is pretty rude.. Just think about the fun we(atleast me) had watching it.. I just simply love it.

What exactly are you expecting from the new Mahabarata?

Well B.R Chopra has done his best in those days, never wanted to put him down by saying its bad ..

but my poit is that Mahabharatha is from a ancient days of glory, the time it was written we were much more glorious than what we are today, If you read the book start to end uncondensed you would realize that ... Probably today's visual graphics could match the script of Mahabharatha ... thats my point.

The scene I was referring that I didn't like is the place where the invincible Krishna goes in rage to kill Bhisma, which is really very very ferocious, but when you see it on the screen, it doesn't bring out the mood of the play

Honestly speaking, I liked Mahabharath compared to Ramayan, due to the fun filled episodes. May be, some of them are boring compared to action packed mega serials of these days..

BTW.. are you sure that the web link which you had provided is a genuine one?

deepak's rite.... the thing was made ages back and was probably the finest one, when you consider the fact that it was aired in DD with no huge ads.
I feel the link that you gave is dubious... we will have to wait 'n' see... hope it does some justice to the epic, if at all its true.
I remember seeing a english version of mahabaratha in my library in melbourne.... the whole way of looking at things was wierd and different. Hope they dont churn out something simliar

note sure ppl if that is a valid information ... neways should be good ... and hopefully comes unbiased and based on the ancient literature and not something based on some present interpretation by some stupid moron (like the one senthil refers)

somehow I dont think it be made...I dunno why but I have the feelings...how do you tell the story of Mahabaratha in 3 movies?!

I have watched some of the recent episodes of mahabarat. The story hardly moves. In half an hour episode, 15 mins is devoted for ads, and in the remaining 15 mins, they show a recap of last episode which consumes 5 mins. This will surely kill the interests of the children.

- sudar.

I wanna know this: SRK - is taking up Arjun's or Karan's role. Hope they announce that soon

Ya da susie .. Ads are the main reason I avoid watching Mahabharatha on Jaya tv ...

faths .. not very sure what is this character Karan .. my guesses are it might be Karna or Krishna .. not sure what role SRKs gonna play though

I am suprised you feel BR Chopra didn't do a good job. It was so fine. The reason it was so awesome was because of the actors brilliant acting! Recently Ekta Kapoor made Mahabharat with all the effects it's seriously a disgrace and there was many other shows made with big budgets and with good effects. Effects are strictly for visual purposes the essence is more important.
