Life is busy

Hi people, work's pretty hectic ever the last week and I'm dodging time to write the updates for you people out there ;)

One good thing is the mobile USB drive I bought over the last weekend. Its sleek, handy, has 40 GB storage and costs only 3200 rs including tax, compare this with the price of flash disks in the market. The koreans are very innovative in designing these electronic items, they've created a small chipset that converts the standard ATA interface to USB interface and packed it real nice so a laptop harddisk fits into it !! I'm sure mobile harddisks are going to replace the flash disks very soon, thanks to the reduction in size of harddisk and the harddisk density, there are a bunch of devices in the market that use extremely small harddisks to pack a bunch of information.

Take a look at the harddisk enclosure, I'm sure you would be tempted to buy this one.

Now I can collect a bunch of information. I'm following google's footsteps in organizing the world information :P

Dei, I am sure hard drives wont replace flash.

I would look to Apple to see where storage is going. And its definitely not going the HDD way. The iPod mini's which were pulled had hard drives. they were replaced with the Shuffle, the Nano and the Video iPod. Both the Shuffle and the Nano have flash memory. Samsung is already talking about 16 GB flash chips. So I would expect the next gen ipods to use flash.

Flash is so rugged, my friend actually put one through the washing machine (in his pants) and it came out and all the data was intact!

But I simply cannot argue with the cost per Mb of the hard drive. i actually use an old 20 GB desktop hard drive with a USB cable (400 bucks) to move data arnd.

tamizhaaa .. machan nee solradhu correct da .. flash maari ruggeda harddisk irukka mudiyaadhu, but surea harddisk density is increasing faster than flash disks. so you can expect a similar 500 GB harddisks at the same price soon ;) but at that time flashdisks would still be 1/10th the size of it.

I actually thought of buying an extra 200 GB desktop hdd as my mobile device, but looking at the amazing size of this 2.5 inch one I coudn't resist.

Most of my friends have flash drives to move data around ... but you might know that 1~2 GB drives will not be enough for me ... how will they suffice when a 40 gb disk is not sufficient for me today :(

ram - romba thanks .. unga diwali epdi irundhadhu
