Ilayaraja has come up with a great album Thiruvasakam in Symphony. It's been a great hype in the industry. There are various people who have come up with different comments. Sujatha's introduction is noteworthy. Sujatha also asks that this album may not be downloaded as MP3. Do these people want to own even the spiritual texts, make money out of our glorious tradition. I feel this album should be universal, It should be for the masses, rather than selling it for money. This kind of spiritual albums should defenitely be made by people, In that Ilayaraja has done a great help to the society by creating this album. Definitely Ilayaraja would get more fame, more money, greater heaven ... can it be sold for making mere money.
Any art makes complete meaning only when dedicated to GOD. This should be done without expecting anything in return. A sacrifice to the greater society, to please GOD, for the glory of GOD.

I always used to say, if these guys got money for Tiruvasagam CD, they shud pay royalty to Manivasagar.
Poor guys he was truly divine, made his works public, rather than putting copyright on it.
The total cost of this project amounted to Rs. 110 lakhs. Of this, Rs. 35 lakhs was from donations and the remaining Rs.75 lakhs was borrowed from individuals and banks.
IR could have signed an agreement with SONY or any other company. But he didn't want to commercialize his divine work.

i would like to emphasize that I'm not at all cricticizing Ilayaraja (He's my hero). I'm just hoping the producers do not get attached to money and sell this wonderfully spiritual Thiruvasakam. The best thing they can do is make it reachable to the largest mass possible.

Thiruvasakam survived because Manickavasagar did it with utmost devotion and reverence towards the society (That all people should be enlightened by his thoughts)

I'm yet to hear the songs ... hopefully I'll buy the CDs next week.
